Editorial policy
How this guide is written and checked
The rules we hold ourselves to, published so you can hold us to them too.
Sourcing
Seven standing rules
- 01
Every changeable fact carries a source and a date
Fees, lead times, drive times and permit requirements are published with the official source we took them from and the date we last checked it. - 02
Venue and supplier details come first-hand
A venue's capacity, wet-weather option, access or facilities is only published when it comes from the venue itself or its official website, never from a directory, a competitor or an assumption. - 03
We do not publish invented ranges
If we cannot source a price range, we do not print one. Our tools ask you to enter real quotes instead of presenting a guess as a benchmark. - 04
Real weddings publish with consent
Case studies are published only with the couple's approval of exactly what is shared, and with every supplier credited accurately. - 05
Every photograph is a real photograph
Nothing on this site is AI-generated, AI-extended or AI-recomposed. Every frame is an original photograph taken on a real day by our own photographers, published at its own dimensions and credited to its photographer. - 06
Commercial relationships are disclosed where they apply
This guide is written and funded by Wedding Machine Group. Wonder Weddings, Heli Elopements and Eureka Films are brands within the same group and are labelled as such, never presented as independent recommendations. - 07
Corrections are made and noted
When something is wrong we fix it, update the last-checked date, and record what changed.
Review
Review schedule
Government fees and legal requirements are rechecked whenever the source publishes a change, and at least twice a year. Venue and supplier details are rechecked annually, or sooner when a venue tells us something has changed. Seasonal guidance is reviewed before each season begins.
The named factual reviewer is Cristian Batista, CEO and founder, Wedding Machine Group. The review date sits at the foot of every guide.
Photography
Real photographs, no AI imagery
Every image on this site is a real photograph of a real wedding day, elopement or location in the Wānaka and Southern Lakes area, taken by our own photographers. None of it is AI-generated, AI-extended, AI-upscaled or AI-recomposed, and no frame has been cropped or re-rendered by an image model, each one is published at the dimensions it came out of the camera workflow with.
Where a frame is cropped for layout, that happens in the browser for framing only; the original file behind it is unchanged. Portraits and real wedding photographs are published with the couple's consent, and the photographer is credited in the caption.
Prefer to ask a person?
Wonder Weddings plans and runs weddings in Wānaka and the wider Southern Lakes. If you would rather talk it through than read another guide, start there.
